Matt & Kellie: Our Engagement Story

Matt and I have been together for almost three years, and I have known since the day I met him that he would someday be my husband. I remember distinctly the very first time we met, he walked in and my jaw hit the floor. I had already known Donna for 4 years before I finally met her son, and she insisted that I marry him several times throughout our relationship. However, Matt was then living in Silverthorne and our paths never crossed until August of 2014.

After he walked in, I immediately called Donna, who was at work at the time, and said “You never told me how hot your son is.” We really connected that night, and the next night at Elizabeth and Kevin’s Anniversary Party, thrown by Donna. It was truly meant to be, and we have been attached at the hip ever since.

Two and a half years later, Matt decided to pop the question, and I wrote a poem to capture the moment:

Today, special delivery.

A knock at the door.

What the hell is that?

A box from my favorite store.

"Amazon again," he says,

His blue eyes dismayed.

"I didn't order anything!?!?"

"Open it anyways."

I pull out the scissors,

And cut the fresh tape,

Revealing that box,

THE box with that particular shape.

Lying next to with all the tissue paper and bows,

Was the sentiment I kept dried,

Our very first rose.

He gets down on one knee, 

"I've been dying to propose,"

Will you marry me? 

"Fix You" by Coldplay plays softly behind,

I said......
